Healthcare Providers Educational modules

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in collaboration with Hamad International Training Centre (HITC) is pleased to announce the roll out of three (3), CPD accredited, National Diabetes Strategy eLearning Courses. The Diabetes eLearning courses are available, complimentarily, to all healthcare professionals registered in the State of Qatar.

Aligned to the vision of the National Diabetes Strategy “Preventing Diabetes Together” these eLearning courses have been developed to support healthcare professionals to deliver the new diabetes care model and educate them on the recently published National Diabetes clinical guidelines and care pathways. The Diabetes eLearning courses utilize scenario-based-learning techniques to enable learners to develop and test their knowledge and skills within a safe environment.

The three (3) eLearning courses are:

  1. Overview of Diabetes

The course provides an introduction to Qatar’s National Diabetes Strategy, and how it will be delivered through high-quality, person-centered care. It is targeted at all healthcare professionals.

  1. Diabetes for Diabetes Educators

The Diabetes Educator course provides the skills to professionals working with diabetic patients that help them educate patients for self-management and empowerment. Enrollment to this course is by application to Hamad International Training Center (HITC) eLearning platform.

3. Diabetes Pathways

The Diabetes Pathways program is designed to help healthcare professionals learn how to apply the national clinical guidelines and care pathways in the treatment and management of diabetes to their patients. There are six pathways in this course, covering the management of diabetes in different patient groups.

The six modules are:

  1. T2DM in Adults and the Elderly
  2. T1 DM in Adults and the Elderly
  3. T1 & T2 DM in Children
  4. Diabetes in Pregnancy
  5. Diabetes Complications
  6. Diabetes in Special Situations

Each module takes healthcare professionals through the care pathways and associated Clinical Guidelines via a number of patient scenarios. In each scenario, learners become familiar with the guidelines by using them to make decisions on screening, advising and treating the patients in the scenarios.

The diabetes on-line modules are complemented by a searchable Reference Tool, which represents the diabetes pathways and includes search capabilities that enable healthcare professionals to quickly find the information they are looking for in the guideline. This tool can be accessed from both desktop and mobile devices making clinical evidence available at the point of care.

All three (3) eLearning courses are accredited by QCHP and you can earn up to 25,5 CPD points, as follows:

  1. Diabetes Overview 5 points, in total, combination of Category 2 and  Category 3
  2. Diabetes Educators 5.5 points, in total, combination of Category 2 and  Category 3
  3. Diabetes Pathways up to 15 points, in total, combination of Category 2 and  Category 3

Each course will take approximately 3 to 5 hours to complete and have no prerequisites.
